DMTCL Engineer Recruitment Exam Deferred Amid Legal Dispute
The written examination for the post of Engineer under Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has been postponed. The decision was announced in a notice signed by DMTCL Secretary (Joint Secretary) Khondkar Ehteshamul Kabir on Wednesday, August 13.
The notice stated, “Due to unavoidable reasons, the written examination scheduled to be held on August 15 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm for the posts listed under serial numbers 9 to 18 of the recruitment circular-11 (among serial numbers 1 to 18) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has been postponed. The revised schedule of the examination will be informed later via SMS.”
The postponed recruitment exams cover the following positions: Section Engineer (Electrical), Section Engineer (Signaling and Telecommunication), Section Engineer (RS-Planning/Training/Budget), Section Engineer (RS-Special Task), Section Engineer (RS-Aircon), Section Engineer (RS-Door), Section Engineer (RS-Bogie), Section Engineer (RS-Pneumatics), Section Engineer (P-Way), and Section Engineer (Procurement).
It has been learned that following a writ petition filed by BSc engineers, the High Court issued a directive that led to the postponement of the 10 engineering recruitment examinations scheduled for August 15.
In protest, students of government and private polytechnic institutes across the country have launched demonstrations. They have announced protest programmes to be held nationwide on Thursday.
