Foodpanda Folds in Thailand as Delivery Hero Refocuses

German food delivery giant Delivery Hero has announced that its subsidiary platform, Foodpanda, will permanently cease all operations in Thailand starting May 23, 2025. The decision was confirmed in an official statement released by the company on Wednesday, according to Reuters.
Delivery Hero stated, “We are focusing our resources and efforts on markets in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region where we see higher returns on investment and stronger growth potential.”
As a result of the decision, Foodpanda users in Thailand will no longer be able to place orders through the app or website from the end of May.
Despite this closure, Delivery Hero's regional team will continue to operate its other business ventures in Thailand as before.
Industry analysts suggest that the exit is likely driven by a combination of intense competition, profitability challenges, and a broader reassessment of regional strategies.
Previously, Delivery Hero had also indicated plans to either sell or shut down Foodpanda operations in other parts of Asia.
