BMW Bets on Beijing-Based AI with DeepRoute Deal

German automaker BMW has announced plans to integrate Chinese startup DeepRoute’s artificial intelligence (AI) technology into its new vehicle models in China by the end of this year. The development was revealed by BMW CEO Oliver Zipse during the Shanghai Auto Show on Wednesday, according to a Reuters report.

“Significant progress in AI technology is now happening in China. We are intensifying the integration of AI into our vehicles in the Chinese market,” said Zipse.

This partnership with DeepRoute is part of BMW’s broader strategy to enhance its AI capabilities. The company aims to strengthen its presence in China through innovative technology, leveraging local expertise to better serve the market.
