33,000 Tickets Sold in 30 Minutes, 12.3 Million Hits Recorded

In preparation for Eid-ul-Fitr, Bangladesh Railway has introduced a special ticketing system for intercity train services, with advance tickets being sold online. On the sixth day of this special arrangement, the railway’s e-ticketing website and mobile app received a staggering 12.3 million hits within the first 30 minutes as eager travelers attempted to secure tickets. During this time, approximately 33,000 seats were sold across the country, including those for trains departing from Dhaka.

The information was confirmed on Wednesday (March 19) by a reliable source from Bangladesh Railway. The tickets being sold today are for travel on March 29.

According to official data, ticket sales for western zone trains began at 8:00 AM. Within the first half-hour, a total of 14,405 tickets were sold for intercity trains departing from Dhaka towards the western regions. Across the entire country, 18,546 tickets for western zone trains were sold within the same period. In total, Bangladesh Railway sold 32,951 tickets nationwide within the first 30 minutes of opening its online booking system.
