All the members of the executive committee of the Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), an organization of the IT business sector, suddenly resigned on August 20 in the face of objections from the members in the context of post Hasina regime new Bangladesh which causes a void of leadership. In this context, an emergency meeting was held at Marriott Convention Center (Happy Arcade) in Dhanmondi of the capital on Monday (September 2) at night.

General members participated in this meeting along with BCS president and council leaders. According to the decision of the meeting, Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Managing Director of Smart Technologies (BD) Limited, has been nominated as the convener of BCS for the interim period, including creating the environment for the next elections through necessary reforms. He was elected as director in the 2022-24 executive committee election getting the highest number of votes.

He said that the entire committee will be formed on Wednesday and the work plan of the interim committee will be announced.

BCS former president Sabur Khan, Shahid ul Munir, SM Iqbal, several members of the executive committee of the previous period, chairman of the election board held in 2022 Shafqat Haider and others were present in the emergency meeting. Hundreds of ordinary members were also present.

Sabur Khan criticized the weakness of the BCS leadership during the Awami regime and said that Bangladesh Computer Samity pioneered the IT sector in the country. BCS is a member of ITU, the global IT trade union. As a vendor of IT products, we were given tax benefits which were later not continued. Many of us have taken up space in the Hi-Tech Park. We were promised tax exemption. But you didn't get it. We could not even protest for this. We have to digest it. Now is the time, we all want to speak for you. We want you all to contribute genuinely for the association.

After the long-term rule of the regime which was ended through the students' uprising, the common people demanded urgent reforms in various public and private institutions. In that context, the movement to depoliticize the commercial organizations is going on all around. BCS is the first among the other 4 IT organizations of the country to take this initiative to strengthen the secretariat by activating the organizational activities. Among these, no strong reaction was seen officially with the BASIS executive committee. After the resignation of 5 members together at midnight, the issue of e-cab has reached the Ministry of Commerce. However, the Executive Committee of ISPAB is sleeping cold in the face of protests. However, there are allegations of strong political partisanship in the executive committee of this organization.
