Bangladesh team being formed to participate in International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence
Bangladesh is participating in the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence-IOAI, which is being organized for the first time, to encourage school-college going students to work with artificial intelligence. Team formation is underway to participate in this international conference on artificial intelligence to be held in Bulgaria on August 9-15 with the direct participation of students from different countries around the world. Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN) is selecting the Bangladesh team by organizing the Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (BdAIO) at Dhaka University's Institute of Information Technology on May 18.
Meanwhile, online programming contest was held on May 8 with the participation of registered students from all over Bangladesh. Online grooming session is going on with the selected students from this contest; it will continue till May 15. In these sessions various directions are also being given regarding the national phase of Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad.
Special sessions are going on under the joint supervision of Dr. Lafifa Jamal, Professor of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department of Dhaka University and Prof. BM Mainul Hossain, Director of Information Technology Institute.
These sessions are being conducted by Nafis Tiham, Senior Engineer of bKash Advanced Research and Engineering; Ahnaf Hossain Rafi, Senior AI Engineer of Intelligent Machines; Saikat Chakraborty, Senior Researcher of Microsoft Research; Chief Marketing Officer of Antik Technologies Tahmid Abdullah and Dhaka University Institute of Information Technology students Proma Chowdhury and Md. Siam.
An onsite contest will be held on May 18 with the students selected for the national phase. The winners of this live national phase will be held online for grooming session on 21-22 May and selection camp and international team selection test on 23-25 May. Apart from the performance of the students participating in the camp, the team will be finally selected after checking their intelligence skills, who will represent Bangladesh in the first international AI Olympiad to be held in Bulgaria. About the selection of the team from Bangladesh in this Olympiad organized for the first time internationally, Prof. BM Mainul Hossain said, "The purpose of these activities is not only to compete, but also to give various directions to meet the interest of students, to organize various trainings on artificial intelligence, etc. The future is in the plan.'' Professor Lafifa Jamal said, "This type of organization will play a big role in making our future generation skilled in frontier technology and developing their innovative power."
Organized for the first time by BDOSN, Bangladesh Artificial Intelligence Olympiad is powered by Reeve Chat. It is to be noted that BDOSN has been given the responsibility of country coordination to organize the Bangladesh phase of this prestigious competition to be held for the first time in Bulgaria. This creates an opportunity for the boys and girls of high school level in Bangladesh to participate in the International AI Olympiad.
