Online income tax return restarted
Online income tax return filing system has been re-introduced after a long hiatus. From November 1, taxpayers will be able to submit their returns online in addition to the usual practice at the Kar-mela (Income tax fair) in every tax region.
Abu Hena Rahmatul Munim, chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Tuesday in the auditorium of the capital's Segunbagicha revenue building conveyed this information at the press conference.
Although the online income tax return was launched on October 10, it was officially announced on this day.
Abu Hena said, 'There will be two e-return help desks in each tax area to facilitate online return submission. From this desk, all the income tax related services will be provided to the taxpayers including filling the return form.
Responding to a question, the NBR chairman said, “Currently, the number of TIN holders is around 6.8 million. In the last one year, another 1.7 million new TINs have been identified.
"Door-to-door activities are underway to bring more people under the tax," he said, adding that "emphasis has been placed on enforcement."
The income tax fair will start on November 1 and will continue till November 30.
