IIGAB will debut in a new form on Saturday

International Internet Gateway Association of Bangladesh (IIGAB) is coming back with a new look with the determination to consolidate smart digital connectivity for a smart Bangladesh. The new executive committee of IIGAB is going to make its debut on Saturday to sustain the cross-border connectivity of the country's digital infrastructure by ensuring uninterrupted bandwidth services. On that day, a general meeting is going to be held at Zahirul Tower of Gulshan 2 regarding the work plan for the coming financial year. In that meeting, the new executive committee will be formed by 34 IIG companies that provide bandwidth in the country.

According to sources, on June 2, the executive committee was formed anew for the second term. In the first meeting of the committee, the constitution was discussed during the distribution of posts. It was decided by 5-4 votes that the new committee of IIGAB will be formed in a presidential format like BASIS. According to the voting decision, the committee will consist of a Senior Vice-president and two Vice-presidents and five Directors after the President. Each member of the committee will have specific responsibilities. The smart organizational structure was chosen by the majority of the executive committee members to make the participation committee.

It is reported that IIGAB will hold a general meeting on Saturday with general members after the distribution of full posts among the 9 members nominated for the term 2024-26. The new executive committee will be inaugurated there.

According to the letter signed by IIGAB Member Secretary Retired Major Mahmood Shahed, the meeting will discuss the next steps and program regarding collection of unpaid revenue sharing demanded from BTRC, pending writ in the High Court to prevent double taxation on revenue sharing of IIG licensees. Next steps and activities will be discussed regarding fee collection and expiry of IIG license in 2027.

By the way, it debuted in 2014. DGM Sarwar Alam of Mir Telecom and Chief Executive Officer of Secretary General Level 3 Ahmed Junayed have been serving as the president of this organization since then.
