Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) has arrested a man named Abu Bakkar Siddiqui from Rajshahi for making a harmful and unlawful comment on Facebook regarding Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent tour. He was apprehended on Thursday, October 22. Additional Commissioner (DB) of DMP Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the news to media representatives. Relevant sources indicated that advanced cyber intelligence and digital tracking tools were utilized to trace the individual following the threat generated on social media.

DMP authorities reported that the arrestee is being brought to Dhaka for detailed interrogation to investigate any potential cybercrime or security risk linked to his online post. Experts highlight that swift enforcement using modern cyber technology is critical to curbing digital malpractices and maintaining cyber safety across social media networks in the country.

The incident originates from October 20, when Prime Minister Tarique Rahman entered Rajshahi city from Shah Makhdum Airport aboard a RUET bus, greeting crowds gathered along the route. Later, a Facebook page titled 'The Beauty of Rajshahi' uploaded a photo of the bus carrying the Prime Minister. Under that post, the Facebook account of MD Abu Bakar Siddik published an alarming and threatening comment that quickly attracted attention.

Law enforcement agencies stated that such remarks on public platforms constitute serious cyber offense and breach security norms. Following digital analysis and account verification by police teams, prompt legal action was taken. Officials reaffirmed that strict measures under relevant digital security statutes will be implemented to prevent misuse of social media platforms.
