Regular DJ parties were reportedly held at a rented house in Dhaka’s Three Hundred Feet area for the past year. The events took place 20 to 25 days a month and required online registration. Most participants were reportedly members of affluent families or their children, according to the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). Each participant paid around Tk 600 to attend.

Ilias Kabir, deputy commissioner of the DMP’s Detective Branch Uttara Division, disclosed the details while briefing reporters at his office on Wednesday (October 21).

He said police raided the house after receiving confidential information from senior officials. Officers found a DJ party underway, with around 22 vehicles parked at the premises. Loud music was playing, and the environment was smoky due to shisha use.

Police found 26 young women inside the building during the raid. Most were between 20 and 22 years old. Kabir said all the detained women were students, including one from the University of Dhaka. The detained men included students, corporate employees and businesspeople.

Online Registration and Entry Fees

Kabir said the parties were organized through online platforms named Airbnb and Travela. Participants registered online to attend the events.

According to him, 20 to 22 parties were held each month. Each participant paid around Tk 600 to attend. Police also found information indicating financial transactions related to renting the house.

The party ended when police entered the building. Those present moved into different rooms. The building had five rooms in total.

During the raid, police seized three bottles of alcohol, yaba and a drug identified as kush. They also recovered items related to sexual health.

Action Against 85 Detained People

Kabir said 85 people were detained from the house and penalties were imposed.

The men received one-month jail terms and fines of Tk 1,000 each. Those unable to pay the fines must serve an additional 15 days in jail.

The women received 15-day jail terms and fines of Tk 500 each. Those unable to pay must serve an additional three days in jail.
