Interim Government Prioritizes Digital Transformation of 4 Key Ministries

The interim government has decided to fully automate the internal processes of four key ministries—Land, National Board of Revenue (NBR), Commerce, and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). The initiative will include 100% electronic file management, full implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and the adoption of a digital signature system. Additionally, all citizen services provided by these ministries will be digitized as per the directive of Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Following the appointment of Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb as the Special Assistant for the Ministry of ICT, Posts, and Telecommunications, the Chief Adviser on Saturday (March 8) issued immediate instructions to prioritize this transformation. He emphasized the need for interoperability among different ministries’ databases to streamline service delivery. Furthermore, he directed that data should be exchanged securely via API integration, eliminating the need for manual form submissions.

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb stated that efforts will be made to implement a pilot program within the next three months for selected ministries in accordance with the Chief Adviser’s directive. He acknowledged that various ministries in Bangladesh have developed independent digital systems, creating isolated data silos. "The urgent responsibility of the government is to ensure interoperability between these silos," he remarked.
