Women In Agriculture Urged To Chart Career Pathways Early
- Session outlines roadmaps for BCS agriculture cadress, scientific research, and academia
- Emphasizes alternate avenues across agri-tech startups, smart farming, and entrepreneurship
- Discussions address workplace bottlenecks and post-graduate international admissions
Emphasizing structured early planning to navigate professional arenas across the civil service, private enterprises, advanced research, academia, and enterprise creation, student platform BAU Admission Test Helpline (BAUTH) hosted a comprehensive career orientation session for female agricultural undergraduates at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).
Held on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, the interactive virtual panel titled "Women in Agriculture: Career Opportunities and Beyond, Government and Private Sector Career Pathways" focused on expanding professional frontiers, technical upskilling, and addressing empirical workplace realities faced by female agronomists.
The deliberations examined strategic preparations required during undergraduate studies, including targeted roadmaps for the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) specialized agriculture cadre, roles as scientific officers in national agricultural research institutes, private corporate placements, and peer-reviewed scientific publishing. Beyond standard corporate and civil employment, the speakers spotlighted high-growth alternative frontiers spanning precision agriculture, agri-tech platforms, and sustainable agro-processing ventures led by female entrepreneurs.
Commenting on the outcomes of the session, BAUTH administrative lead Maliha Rahman noted that the thematic focus addressed critical knowledge gaps for early-stage undergraduates. She highlighted that the unvarnished analysis of professional headwinds alongside growth opportunities across corporate, research, and government tracks will empower female undergraduates to formulate proactive academic and career goals.
Moderating the session, Fahmida Sultana Borsha shared that navigating organizational challenges during live delivery served as a practical learning milestone, noting that the experience highlighted structural areas for refinement in subsequent career counseling programming, official sources confirmed. //DBTech/Arafat Hossain/SME/MVNO//
