Clash Comes to the Screen: Netflix Developing Animated Series Based on Popular Mobile Games

Netflix is set to launch an animated series based on the globally popular mobile games Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. The series is being produced in partnership with Supercell, the developer behind both titles, according to a report from Engadget.

Fletcher Moules, known for directing the original animated videos for the game on YouTube, will helm the series. The project also features Ron Weiner as the lead writer, whose previous credits include acclaimed series such as Silicon Valley, 30 Rock, Futurama, and Arrested Development.

First released in 2012, Clash of Clans quickly became a global hit, followed by its 2016 sequel, Clash Royale. Combined, the two titles have been downloaded over 4 billion times, with players reportedly spending more than 180 billion hours in-game.

The upcoming Netflix series will center around the character “Barbarian,” who assembles an eccentric group of companions to defend his village and navigate the absurd politics of war.

Currently in pre-production, the series has not yet announced a release date or cast details.
