ISPAB Election Excitement: 24 Contestants Vie for 13 Executive Posts
A total of 24 candidates have submitted nominations for 13 executive posts in the upcoming 2025–27 term election of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB). Among them, 14 candidates have filed for nine director positions from the general membership category, and 10 candidates have submitted nominations for four director positions from the associate membership category. However, three individuals purchased nomination forms but did not submit them.
According to the ISPAB Election Board, all submitted nominations have been deemed preliminarily valid. However, candidates will have until April 27 to withdraw their nominations, after which the final list will be published. The general member category has 263 eligible voters, while the associate member category has 599.
Following the nomination phase, a full panel under the banner of the Hakim-Nazmul alliance has emerged in the general member category. The panel includes M A Hakim, CEO of Amber IT Ltd.; Saiful Islam Siddique, Managing Director of ICC Communication Ltd.; Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan, Managing Director of KS Network Ltd.; Moin Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director of Red Data Private Ltd.; Rashedur Rahman Rajon, Managing Director of Onesky Communication Ltd.; Asaduzzaman Sujon, Managing Director of Antorongo Dot Com Ltd.; Mahbub Alam Raju, CEO of Circle Network; Niamul Haque Khan, Managing Director of Majeda Networks Ltd.; and Mohammad Mithu Hawlader, CEO of Invention Technologist Ltd. The candidates were seen at ISPAB’s permanent office in Banani, Dhaka, where they took photographs with supporters and voters in a cheerful atmosphere.
Sources say that despite collecting nomination papers, Niaz Morshed from Plus Net In, Rajib Shahriar Rubens from Fast & Fast IT, and A M Kamal Uddin Ahmed Selim from BCL Online eventually refrained from submitting their nominations, citing support for the Hakim-Nazmul panel.
Other independent candidates in the general category include Md. Shariful Islam of Brick System, Irfan Uddin of Alpha Network, Azarul Haque Chowdhury of ADN Telecom Ltd., Sabbir Ahmed of Exzord, and Mohammad Rezaul Islam of Link3 Technologist Ltd.
In the associate member category, valid candidates for the four available posts include Mohammad Nasir Uddin of Speed Tech Online; Tarik Hasan Turjo of City Link Communication; Md. Imdadul Haque of Pandora Technology; S M Saiful Islam Selim of Sabuj Bangla Online; Fuad Mohammad Sarfuddin of Fishya Communication; Anwar Ahmed of Wide Communication; Md. Shahajan of Pragati IT; Mohammad Alamgir Hossain of Digital Communication; MD Zubayer Islam of MS Zubayer IT Expert; and Raisul Islam Tuhin of Tuhin Enterprise.
The final list of candidates will be published at 5:00 PM on April 27, with the withdrawal deadline set at 2:00 PM the same day. The election will be held on May 17 at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Conference Center on Minto Road, Dhaka.
