"Jimmi": A Dark Comedy Thriller Unfolds on Hoichoi

A simple yet strong-willed woman, Runa Laila, works at a government electricity office. Her life takes a drastic turn when she stumbles upon a hidden box filled with money. Driven by temptation and greed, yet aware of the potential consequences, she decides to keep it.

What follows is a series of unforeseen events, turning her life upside down.

This intriguing story unfolds in "Jimmi", a seven-episode black comedy series directed by Ashfaque Nipun.

Released on Hoichoi on Friday, March 28, the series features Jaya Ahsan in the lead role as Runa Laila. Speaking about her debut in web series, Ahsan stated, "Before choosing any project, I always consider three aspects—story, character, and director. In the case of 'Jimmi,' all three elements aligned perfectly, so I didn’t hesitate."

The series also stars Iresh Zaker, Shahriar Nazim Joy, Rafiul Kader Rubel, Prantor Dastidar, Mahmud Alam, Ashok Byapari, Arfan Medha Shiblu, Munira Begum Mimi, and Shahadat Shishir, among others.

Director and screenwriter Ashfaque Nipun shared his vision behind the project, saying, "With 'Jimmi,' I aimed to tell a different kind of story. The series blends social realities, human emotions, and entertainment. I can assure viewers they will experience something fresh. Now that 'Jimmi' is on Hoichoi, it's entirely in the audience's hands."

Filmed in Pabna, Cox’s Bazar, and various locations in Dhaka, the series boasts cinematography by Barkat Hossain Palash, editing by Jubayer Abir Pial, and a music & background score by Zahid Nirab. The costumes were designed by Bijoya Ratnawali, art direction was led by Konok Titu, and makeup was handled by MK Hossain.
