The country cannot be changed with small thoughts: Yafes Osman
Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yafes Osman said, “Everyone has to work honestly for the development of science and technology education. Every work must set an example. The country cannot be changed with small thoughts. You need to be honest not only financially but also mentally.”
He added, “For the last 10 years, the funds of the Science and Technology Development Trust have been being spent very transparently, which is having an impact on the development of science education at the marginal level. Every action of the Ministry of Science and Technology is a unique example of transparent and accountable administration.”
He made the remarks while addressing the 17th board meeting of the Science and Technology Development Trust. He was present at the meeting held at the National Science and Technology Complex building in Agargaon.
Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees Ziaul Hasan; Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Prof. Syed Md. Golam Farooq; Additional Secretary of the Department of Finance Farhina Ahmed; Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Dhaka, Golam Mohammad Bhuiyan; Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering; Farsim Mannan Mohammadi, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Shamsul Alam and representatives of various organizations including Dhaka Education Board, Technical Education Board were present in the meeting.
At the meeting of the Board of Trustees chaired by Director General of the National Museum of Science and Technology Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, it was decided to provide financial assistance of Tk 30 lakh for the purchase of science teaching materials to 31 educational institutions in remote areas and a total of Tk 31 lakh including a donation of Tk 1 lakh to a science club. The Minister emphasized the on-the-spot inspection of educational institutions by the Board members to ensure honest use of the grant money.
