The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) paid tribute to all the martyrs who died on August 15, including the Father of the Nation, by standing for a minute silently in the main conference center of their workplace and expressing deep respect. A discussion meeting was held there on the occasion of the National Mourning Day and the 47th martyrdom anniversary of the great architect of independence, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Chairman of BTRC Shyam Sundar Sikder highlighted the eventful political life, philosophy and work of Bangabandhu in his speech in the meeting and said that Bangabandhu was a brave, non-communal, science-minded and far-sighted personality. Bangabandhu was not only the leader of Bengalis, he was the undisputed leader of the whole world. Quoting from various biographies of Bangabandhu, he said, Bangabandhu worked selflessly for the exploited and emancipated people throughout his life and his ideals and philosophy have become an invaluable resource for us in creating modern thought.
BTRC Secretary Md. Nurul Hafeez conducted the meeting while Vice-Chairman of the Commission Mr. Subrata Roy Maitra, Commissioner (Engineering and Operations) Engineer Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed, Commissioner (Legal and Licensing) Abu Syed Dilzar Hossain, Director General (Legal) & Licensing) Ashish Kumar Kundu, Director General (Finance, Accounts & Revenue) Engineer Md. Mesbahuzzaman, Director (Engineering & Operations) Mr. Md. Golam Razzak and President of BTRC Employees Union Md. Jamiul Islam also spoke in the discussion meeting.

The speakers in the discussion meeting, paid deep respect to all the martyrs of the liberation war including all the martyrs of Bangabandhu and his family on the mournful 15th August and highlighted the ideals, life and work of Bangabandhu. The speakers said, from generation to generation, as long as there is Bangladesh, as long as there is a Bengali, as long as there is history of the world, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be alive and only if Bangabandhu's ideals and dreams can be implemented, Bangladesh will become a developed country. BTRC officers/employees at various levels were present on the occasion.
