Students Advocate Digital Gateways and Technology to Eliminate Banking Hassles
Demand for Full Online Payment System at NSTU
- Memorandum submitted at NSTU demanding online collection of all student fees
- MFS, cards, and payment gateways proposed to boost transaction transparency and speed
- Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal NSTU unit leads the memorandum submission
A strong call has been made to establish a fully digital payment ecosystem at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU). The NSTU unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal submitted a memorandum to the University Registrar, demanding automated financial solutions for student fees.
On 6 September, Sunday, the memorandum was officially presented by Chhatra Dal leaders. Former Vice President Sakhawat Hossain Sayem, former Joint General Secretary Sakhawat Hossain, former Student Welfare Secretary Anisur Rahman Sifat, former Sports Secretary Abrar Nasif, former Entertainment Secretary Arif Hasan, and Shahnewaz, alongside other activists, were present. The memorandum highlighted that manual bank deposits cause severe delays due to long queues, rigid banking hours, and bureaucratic formalities.
To resolve these operational inefficiencies, the delegation demanded that tuition, semester, registration, exam, and residential hall fees be made payable via online banking, Mobile Financial Services (MFS), debit or credit cards, and an integrated payment gateway from anywhere. The memorandum emphasized that a digital payment system would reduce wasted time, ensure transaction transparency, enhance security and accountability, and streamline administrative workflows.
Speaking to the media, former Student Welfare Secretary of the unit, Anisur Rahman Sifat, stated that as NSTU is a science and technology-oriented university, the highest application of technology must be ensured in its administrative and financial operations. Transitioning from physical banking to online banking, MFS, and payment gateways will eliminate student suffering while driving institutional transparency and efficiency.
