Anthropic, one of the leading technology companies in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, is delaying the process of marketing its initial public offering (IPO) to some extent. According to people familiar with the matter, the company is unlikely to begin the process before mid-October.

However, Anthropic aims to complete its stock-market listing shortly before the US midterm elections scheduled for November.

Awaiting a New Record in Stock Market History

According to its initial plans, Anthropic was expected to publish its IPO prospectus around next week, which would mark the beginning of the final stage of its entry into the stock market.

However, according to the latest information, the prospectus is not expected to be made public before the final week of September. Those familiar with the matter cautioned that the plan and timeline could still change depending on market conditions and regulatory review.

Some investors believe the move could push the company’s valuation to around $2 trillion. If that happens, it would make the offering one of the largest IPOs in international stock-market history. At the same time, it would serve as a major test of how strong ordinary public-market investors’ appetite is for rapidly growing artificial intelligence technology.

Financial Preparations and Role of Major Banks

As part of the IPO process, Anthropic is currently working to finalize a $15 billion revolving credit facility. Once this is completed, the company will hold discussions with the financial analysts involved. Typically, a prospectus is published within a few weeks of such meetings, but in Anthropic’s case, the timeline could be somewhat shorter because market analysts already have a strong understanding of the company.

However, neither Anthropic nor the banks involved has agreed to make any official comment on the overall process.

It is understood that leading international financial institutions including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Citi are working on Anthropic’s IPO. According to market analysts, other AI companies, including OpenAI, are also in the race to enter the stock market.

After Elon Musk’s SpaceX entered the capital market in June this year at a record valuation of $1.77 trillion, Anthropic’s move is being viewed as a highly significant development for the global economy and technology sector.
