Streaming Showdown: Serial, Cinema, and Sitcoms
A schoolgirl from a wealthy family was brutally raped and murdered, with widespread suspicion falling on the family’s driver. He was arrested, though he repeatedly insisted he was innocent and had been framed. At the plea of the driver’s young daughter, lawyer Achintya Aich agreed to defend him in court.
The legal battle forms the plot of the Bengali web series Adv. Achintya Aich 2, which premiered on Hoichoi on August 15. The series stars Ritwick Chakraborty, Sohini Sengupta, and Saswata Chatterjee.
Just a day earlier, on August 14, Deepto Play released the Bengali film Tandab, starring Shakib Khan, Jaya Ahsan, and Sabnam Faria. The story follows a protagonist who storms a television channel, taking hostages and demanding the presence of the Home Minister, a former Inspector General of Police, and the channel’s owner. To save those held captive, a former news anchor, the minister, the ex-IGP, and the channel owner appear live on air, leading to a tense on-screen standoff.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Bongo released episodes 17 to 24 of Bachelor Point: Season 5. Featuring Marzuk Russell, Ziaul Haque Polash, Chashi Alam, and Shimul Sharma, the series continues its portrayal of friendship, lively conversations, and the small yet chaotic struggles of everyday life, offering viewers a fresh chapter of humor and camaraderie.
