ChatGPT App Achieves Astonishing Earnings
Since its mobile app launch, ChatGPT has been breaking revenue records. According to the latest data from app intelligence firm Appfigures, global consumer spending on the app has reached $2 billion since its debut in May 2023. Between January and July 2025 alone, revenue stood at nearly $1.35 billion, marking a 673 percent increase compared to the same period last year, TechCrunch reported.
Currently, ChatGPT’s mobile version is generating an average monthly revenue of around $193 million.
This figure is significantly higher than its competitors. So far this year, xAI’s Grok has generated only $25.6 million, which is just 1.9 percent of ChatGPT’s monthly earnings. On average, ChatGPT earns $2.91 per download, compared to Claude’s $2.55, Grok’s $0.75, and Copilot’s mere $0.28.
To date, the app has been downloaded 690 million times worldwide. In the United States, spending per download is $10, accounting for 38 percent of total revenue. In terms of download numbers, India ranks first, followed by the United States.
