Dorsey Develops Decentralized Dialogue: Introducing ‘BeeChat’

Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter and CEO of Block, has announced the development of a new messaging app called ‘BeeChat’. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday night, he revealed that he spent the weekend working on the app’s development. The news was reported by TechCrunch.

‘BeeChat’ will operate using a Bluetooth mesh network, enabling users to send messages without relying on the internet or cellular networks. Typically, Bluetooth’s limited range restricts such apps to approximately 100 meters. However, Dorsey claims that his app can extend the range up to 300 meters by relaying messages through nearby devices.

The app has already been made available in beta through Apple’s TestFlight to 10,000 users, a capacity that was quickly filled.

Dorsey’s initiative aligns with his long-standing interest in technology decentralization. He is a prominent supporter of Bitcoin and previously initiated the Bluesky project.
