JUST Hosts Seminar on Nutritional Biochemistry
- • Seminar highlights nutritional biochemistry in preventing chronic diseases and boosting immunity.
- • Scientists from Tohoku University, Japan, share advanced molecular research insights.
- • JUST VC calls for utilizing the RONPAKU PhD program for global research degrees.
Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) hosted an international seminar titled "Advances in Nutritional Biochemistry to Improve Quality of Life" to explore the molecular basis of nutrition, immunity, and chronic disease management. The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the JUST Research Cell jointly organized the event at the Professor Mohammad Sharif Hossain Gallery.
Chief Guest Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Yareul Kabir highlighted the 40-year relationship with Japan's Tohoku University, praising the discipline, hard work, and goal-oriented approach of Japanese laboratories. He urged young researchers to leverage the Japanese 'RONPAKU' PhD program to earn doctorate degrees from Tohoku University while staying in Bangladesh, expressing confidence in continuing joint academic cooperation.
Keynote speaker Professor Dr. Hidetoshi Shirakawa and guest speaker Associate Professor Dr. Yushoku Ohsaki from the Graduate School of Agricultural Science at Tohoku University detailed breakthroughs in nutritional molecular mechanisms. They presented pragmatic steps using nutrients to preserve kidney function, regulate blood pressure, prevent metabolic disorders, and enhance life expectancy.
Special Guest Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan stressed solving national problems through applied research, while Treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammad Faruq Hasan urged connecting laboratory innovations with public needs. Dean of the Faculty of Biological Science and Technology Professor Dr. Sheikh Mijanur Rahman, Chairman of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Dr. Md. Alauddin, and Research Cell Director Professor Dr. Md. Minhaj Uddin Monir also delivered speeches, with Microbiology Chair Professor Dr. Selina Akter moderating the session.
