While social media platforms have simplified communication, reports of disputes arising from their use have emerged. In Khoksa, Kushtia, a young man named Jibon Mallick was allegedly beaten with a rod for sharing a photo of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's birthday on Facebook. The victim has accused Sohail Rana of the assault.

According to reports, Jibon Mallick shared a birthday photo of Khaleda Zia, originally posted by Gopgram Union BNP President Shafiqul Islam Shafi, on Facebook. This led to an argument via Messenger with Sohail Rana on Saturday, September 5th. Subsequently, on the evening of Saturday, September 5th, Sohail Rana and some of his in-laws allegedly went to Jibon Mallick's house in Gopgram and assaulted him with a rod, causing injuries.

Sources indicate that local residents detained Sohail Rana after the incident. Upon receiving the news, Marjan, the In-Charge (IC) of Bhobanigonj Police Outpost, arrived at the scene. The police in-charge stated that locals had detained an individual for allegedly assaulting a young man over sharing a photo on Facebook. Later, an attempt was made to resolve the matter through arbitration in the presence of a local Jamaat leader.

No statement from the accused, Sohail Rana, was available at the time of publication; it will be included in the report if received. Concerned citizens have emphasized the need for local awareness regarding freedom of expression and personal safety on online platforms.
