Apple Acquires MotionVFX to Boost Final Cut Pro Ecosystem
Apple, the iPhone manufacturer, has acquired Polish company MotionVFX, known for developing plugins, templates, and other tools for its video editing software Final Cut Pro. The information was disclosed in a statement published on the company’s website on Monday (16 March). However, Apple did not reveal the financial terms of the deal. TechCrunch reported the development.
Founded in 2009, the Warsaw-based company primarily creates professional-grade plugins, transition effects, and 3D modeling tools for Apple’s Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor. Its popular tools, such as mFilmLook, mO2, and Design Studio, are widely used by video editors and YouTubers worldwide. Its client list includes prominent media and production organizations such as BBC, ITV, and NBC.
In its statement, MotionVFX said, “We are thrilled to announce that MotionVFX is joining the Apple team, so we can further empower creators and editors to do their best work. Over the past 15 years, we have focused on quality, ease of use, and exceptional design—values we admire most in Apple products.”
Analysts view this acquisition as part of Apple’s strategy to strengthen its recently announced ‘Creator Studio’ subscription bundle. Launched in January this year, the bundle includes apps such as Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro, priced at $12.99 per month or $129 annually.
MotionVFX’s tools may be incorporated into this bundle in the future, enabling Creator Studio users to access these professional tools directly without additional cost. This is expected to strengthen Apple’s competitive position against Adobe Premiere Pro.
Notably, Apple’s services segment has become the company’s primary growth driver. In the 2025 fiscal year, the segment contributed more than 26 percent of total revenue, compared to just 8.5 percent in 2015.
