Canva’s Creative Comeback: New Design Model Revolutionizes Visual Creation
Canva, the popular creative software company, unveiled its proprietary design model on Thursday, capable of automatically generating visuals by understanding design layers and formats. Alongside this, the company announced major updates to its AI assistant and other related products, according to a report by TechCrunch.
The new foundational model has been trained on Canva’s own design elements, enabling it to create editable designs featuring layers and objects—not just flat images. It works seamlessly across multiple formats, including social media posts, presentations, whiteboards, and websites.
Robert Kowalski, Canva’s Global Head of Product, stated, “People don’t just want to prompt; they want to personalize and modify their designs easily—we’ve made that simple.”
From now on, Canva’s AI assistant will be available throughout the entire platform. Users can mention the bot with an “@” in comments to seek suggestions on text or media. The new update also allows the AI to generate 3D objects and mimic the art style of any given design.
Additionally, Canva has integrated its spreadsheet and app-building tools to enable the creation of visual widgets directly from data. For marketers, the company has introduced a new platform called Canva Grow, which leverages AI for advertisement creation and analysis.
The Australia-based company further announced that its acquired Affinity Design Suite will now be permanently free to use and has been deeply integrated with Canva’s main platform.
