RUET Begins Preliminary Admission Test for 2024-25 Academic Year

The preliminary admission test for undergraduate programs at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) for the 2024-25 academic year commenced today, Saturday, February 8. A total of 19,915 candidates are competing for 1,235 available seats, meaning approximately 17 applicants are vying for each seat.
These details were disclosed at a press conference held at RUET on Friday, February 7. The preliminary test is being conducted in three shifts: the first shift from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, the second shift from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, and the third shift from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S.M. Abdur Razzak, Director of Student Welfare Professor Dr. Robiul Islam Sarker, Director of Planning and Development Professor Dr. H.M. Russell, Deputy Director (Finance) of Student Welfare Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud, Deputy Director (Administration) Z.H.M. Manzur Morshed, and Deputy Director of Public Relations Golam Murtuza were present at the press conference.
The university’s official website has published the roll numbers and shift schedules for the multiple-choice question (MCQ) preliminary test. The final written admission test is scheduled to take place on February 20.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S.M. Abdur Razzak stated, “All necessary preparations have been completed to ensure the smooth conduct of the admission test. Measures have been taken to prevent any kind of malpractice related to the examination.”
Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Chairman of the First-Year Admission Test Committee, Professor Dr. Md. Robiul Islam, outlined the roll number distribution for each shift.
- The first shift includes candidates with roll numbers from 100001 to 106639, scheduled from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
- The second shift comprises roll numbers from 200001 to 206638, with the test taking place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
- The third shift covers roll numbers from 300001 to 306638, conducted from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Professor Dr. Md. Robiul Islam further elaborated that RUET has a total of 1,235 seats available for the 2024-25 academic year. After the preliminary test, a list of candidates eligible for the final written examination will be published on February 13.
The final selection test will take place on February 20. The written exam will consist of a total of 350 marks for both Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ candidates, with an additional 100-mark freehand drawing test for Group ‘B’ candidates. The final list of selected and waiting-list candidates will be announced on March 8.
Candidates must bring their original and photocopy of the Higher Secondary registration card, the admission test admit card, and an attested photocopy of the tribal quota certificate (if applicable). The use of electronic devices, except for approved calculators, is strictly prohibited during the exam.
