Recognizing its commitment to eco-friendly medical operations, sustainable development, and corporate governance, Labaid Cancer Hospital and Super Speciality Centre has been honored with the prestigious 'ESG Excellence Award'.

The award, organized jointly by the UN-affiliated Global Compact Network Bangladesh and ESG Institute Bangladesh, was officially presented on 5 September, Friday. Sakif Shamim, Managing Director of Labaid Cancer Hospital, received the trophy from Nicolas Weeks, Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh. Abdul Awal Mintoo, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, was also present at the ceremony. The hospital earned this accolade by deploying energy-efficient engineering, digitalized data systems, and eco-friendly waste management protocols.

Demonstrating green tech engineering, Labaid achieved distinction as Bangladesh’s very first medical facility to earn the prestigious LEED Gold Certification. Additionally, for adhering to top-tier patient safety protocols and technological infrastructure, it holds the internationally acclaimed JCI Accreditation.

Beyond this latest achievement, Managing Director Sakif Shamim and the hospital have accumulated numerous global accolades. In 2022, Global Brands Magazine Awards recognized the facility as 'Best Cancer & Super Speciality Hospital' and 'Most Advanced Hospital for Cancer Treatment', while honoring Sakif Shamim as 'Most Promising Leader'. He also received the Golden Bridge Award 2022, CEO Insights top 10 business leaders recognition, and the AsiaOne Global Award. In 2023, Sakif Shamim made history as the first Bangladeshi to be featured on the cover story of Forbes Magazine. On 5 September, Friday, relevant sources stated that this ESG recognition will further inspire sustainable healthtech innovations across the country's medical ecosystem.
