Bangladesh University Brings Spotlight on Pharmacists’ Role on World Pharmacists Day
Bangladesh University (BU) celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2025 with a series of programs organized by its Department of Pharmacy. The day-long schedule included a rally, a discussion session, an interactive engagement between teachers and students, and public awareness activities.
This year’s global theme for the day was— “Think Health, Think Pharmacist.” The main objective of the celebration was to highlight the vital role of pharmacists in safeguarding public health and strengthening healthcare systems.
Speaking at the discussion, speakers noted that skilled and ethical pharmacists are not confined to medicine management alone; they contribute significantly to health policy-making, research, and preventive care. They further emphasized that ensuring sustainable development in healthcare requires the indispensable role of pharmacists, calling for their inclusion not only in policy formulation but also in promoting community-based health awareness.
Among the discussants were Professor Dr. S. M. Abdur Rahman, Advisor to the Department of Pharmacy; Professor Dr. Md. Tajul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics; Professor Abul Kalam Azad, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy; and Rubaiyat Saimum Chowdhury, Advisor for Student Welfare.
As part of the public engagement activities involving both faculty members and students, Bangladesh University reaffirmed its commitment to producing skilled, ethical, and visionary pharmacists.
