Sales of foreign-branded mobile phones in China saw a modest increase in April 2025, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a government-backed research body. The shipment of foreign smartphones reached 3.52 million units during the month, up slightly from 3.50 million units in the same period last year, Reuters reported.

The report noted that Apple remains the largest foreign smartphone brand in the Chinese market, making its performance a significant factor in overall foreign mobile sales statistics. Following a 9% decline in Apple’s sales during the first quarter of the year, the small uptick in April is being viewed as a positive indicator.

In response to intense competition from Chinese smartphone brands, Apple has been offering discounts of up to 2,530 yuan (approximately USD 351) on new iPhone 16 models across various online platforms.
