SUST Sees Steady Progress on Second Phase of Development Project

To enhance residential and academic facilities for students, the authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) held a meeting with a delegation from the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh regarding the ongoing “Further Development (Phase II)” project.
The meeting took place on Friday (April 18) at the administrative building of the university. During the session, Chief Engineer and Project Director Zainal Islam Chowdhury presented a comprehensive update on the project's progress. He informed the attendees that work orders have already been issued for several key infrastructural developments. These include four ten-storey academic buildings, one male and one female dormitory, a new administrative building, a four-storey mosque adjacent to a male dormitory, an eleven-storey residential quarter for teachers and staff, a two-storey central workshop, two span bridges on either side of a one-kilometer road, and a new power station. He expressed optimism that the ongoing projects would be completed within a short timeframe.
The meeting was presided over by SUST’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Sazedul Karim and attended by UGC's Additional Director of Planning and Development Suraiya Farhana, Senior Assistant Director Md. Asif Siddique, Assistant Directors Tanvir Morshed and Mosharraf Hossain, among others.
In his remarks, Professor Dr. Md. Sazedul Karim said, “In order to enhance residential and academic facilities for students, we are working tirelessly to complete all components of the ‘Further Development (Phase II)’ project on schedule so that the entire university community may benefit.”
He further added, “In addition to our university engineers, several monitoring teams are regularly supervising the work to ensure quality standards are maintained. We are confident that with this continued vigilance, we can complete the project promptly without compromising quality.”
Other notable attendees included Acting Registrar Syed Salim Mohammad Abdul Kadir, Director of Planning and Development Ahmad Mahbub Ferdousi, Superintendent Engineer Bikash Chandra Das, Deputy Registrar Shaheen Ahmad Chowdhury, Executive Engineer Mohammad Tanzim Shams, Assistant Directors Purabi Chatterjee, Kawsar Ahmad Chowdhury, and Md. Ashraful Islam, among others.
