bKash Expands Ramadan Charity Services, Adds Zakat Option

During the holy month of Ramadan, donations and charitable contributions can now be made to 40 philanthropic and voluntary organizations across the country through bKash. This year, the service has been expanded to include zakat payments as well.

Organizations such as Anjuman Mufidul Islam, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation, Center for Zakat Management, Ovijatrik Foundation, Mojar School, JAAGO Foundation, Mastul Foundation, As-Sunnah Foundation, Tasauf Foundation, Shakti Foundation, Quantum Foundation, SOS Children's Village Bangladesh, icddr,b, National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh, Dunation Foundation Trust, Prothom Alo Trust, the Chief Adviser’s Relief and Welfare Fund, and the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation are among those to which mobile phone users can now directly pay zakat through their bKash accounts.

To make a donation, users need to click on the ‘Donation’ icon in the bKash app, select the organization they wish to donate to, enter their name, email, and the donation amount, and then submit. If preferred, donors can select the ‘Remain Anonymous’ option to keep their identity confidential. Upon completing the transaction with their bKash PIN, users will receive a confirmation message stating, "Your donation has been successful."

Further details about the recipient organization can be accessed by clicking on the "Learn More" section under its name. Additionally, donors can inquire about how their contributions are being utilized by contacting the email address provided in the confirmation receipt.
