Bangladesh University Students Shine in International Architecture Competition

Two first-year architecture students from Bangladesh University have achieved international recognition by securing prestigious awards at the "XXVIII Encuentro Plástico Espacial 2025" competition, organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

In this globally acclaimed event, Emma Eshrat secured third place, while S.M. Ahadul Islam won the second commendation award. Their remarkable achievements are a source of great pride for both Bangladesh University and the nation.

The "XXVIII Encuentro Plástico Espacial 2025" is an annual competition hosted by the Luis Barragán Workshop under the Faculty of Architecture at UNAM. The event, now in its 28th edition, is open to first-year architecture students worldwide, providing a platform to explore new dimensions of creativity through spatial and plastic design.

This year’s competition was inaugurated on February 13, 2025, and the students of Bangladesh University showcased their talent on this global stage, bringing international recognition to their institution and country.

Expressing gratitude to their mentors, Emma Eshrat and Ahadul Islam credited their success to the dedicated guidance and strategic planning of their faculty members. They stated, "It is because of our teachers' precise direction and planning that we were able to showcase our potential on this international platform. It is a great honor for us to represent Bangladesh University and bring pride to our institution."

In recognition of their outstanding achievement, Bangladesh University's Board of Trustees Chairman Kazi Jamil Azhar, Vice Chairman Architect Iqbal Habib, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam extended their heartfelt congratulations. In separate congratulatory messages, they expressed optimism that students would continue to excel in such creative and innovative endeavors in the future.
