Palak called for ensuring cyber security in digital product and service design
The day-long cyber security conference started for the first time on Tuesday in the morning with the slogan 'Cyber Resilience for Bangladesh'. State Minister for Information Technology, Posts and Telecommunications Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the conference organized by Bangladesh Brand Forum at an elite hotel in the capital. He called on government, private and businessmen to ensure cyber security in the design of digital products or services. He also advised young entrepreneurs and innovators to participate in this sector by holding such an event every year and look at the world's trillion-dollar cyber security sector.
Cyber security of the country should not be hired technology or assistance from abroad, we should build our own strength. As no country wants to do their defense with hired military force, Bangladesh will not use any technology hired in cyber security or protection. Dependence on foreign countries to ensure national cyber security in the country's banking, telecom and power sectors is risky. That's why we are working on creating new tools for our own cyber security experts and technology. - Zunaid Ahmed Plaka
Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Vice Chairman of Idea Foundation and Member of Parliament was present as the special guest on the occasion. Hussain A Samad, consultant of World Bank, Habibullah N Karim, Founder CEO of Techno Haven Company Limited and Md Mushfiqur Rahman, Chief Information Technology Officer of First Security Islami Bank and Advisory Engineer of Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation (CICAF) also participated in the discussion.
State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak highlighted the need for awareness, technology development, introduction of laws and international cooperation in this regard, mentioning 'cyber security' as the most important global problem in the present world.

While speaking as the chief guest, Palak said that, there are 4 important issues in cyber security. According to him, we must first make the citizens aware, because if we don't have an informed citizenry, we will be in danger; Second, we cannot secure the digital world without technological development, development and implementation of new technologies in the right infrastructure; Third, we cannot protect our cyberspace without appropriate laws, policies and guidelines; and fourth, international information, knowledge sharing and cooperation. Because no one can say they are safe these days; everyone is under cyber threat. So, it is not about me, you, any person, any institution or any country; It's about the whole world; We must work together to secure the cyber world.
Considering power and energy, telecom and financial sectors as important sectors in cyber security, the state minister urged to pay more attention to these three sectors. He said, considering the importance, we have declared 35 important information infrastructures and we are taking care of these infrastructures on behalf of the government. But at the same time, we have introduced some data protection guidelines that are important for the private sector to follow.
Terming the conference as a timely step, Palak said, "We are now going to create Education, Investment, Law and Health GPTs." A pilot project has been undertaken. So, you don't have to visit thousands of websites for hundreds of services. Virtual Assistant Govt JI will get all the services by asking or writing something in it for you. Government Brain will answer all. Will also give directions.
