A five-member national team has been selected to represent Bangladesh at the International Olympiad on Climate Change and Environmental Issues (IOCE) 2026. The delegation will travel to Sirius, Russia, to participate in the prestigious competition. The Russian Embassy’s Cultural Wing confirmed the development via an official press release on Monday (September 7).

The team was chosen through the Bangladesh Olympiad on Climate Change and Environmental Issues (BOCE) 2026, jointly organized by the Sustainability and Life Sciences Network (SLSN) and Zero Competitions.

The five selected students representing Bangladesh are Abu Mahzurah Ayman, Fabiha Nurzina, Ismah Arush, S. M. Anfal Habib, and Kamrun Nahar Megha. Tasin Mohammad and Ahnaf Tahmid Uddin will serve as team leaders, while Ferdous Ahmed will join the delegation as an observer. The team will compete in theoretical, practical, and project-based challenges covering climate science, environmental science, and sustainable development.

The nationwide selection process began with an online preliminary round on July 17. Subsequent regional rounds held in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Sylhet, alongside an online regional phase, drew nearly 1,000 participants. Top-performing 300 students qualified for the national round held at Dhaka University's Curzon Hall on August 21. Following a final selection exam at the Russian House in Dhaka on August 27, candidates were evaluated on scientific knowledge, data analysis, and analytical skills to form the final team.
