Professor Nizam Appointed as UGC Part-Time Member

Professor Dr. Md. Nizam Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of Sunamganj University of Science and Technology, has been appointed as a part-time member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. The appointment was officially communicated to him through a letter signed by UGC Secretary Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam.

Expressing his gratitude, Professor Dr. Md. Nizam Uddin extended heartfelt thanks to the UGC authorities on behalf of Sunamganj University of Science and Technology — widely regarded as the leading seat of higher learning in the haor region.

He stated, “Being appointed as a part-time member of the University Grants Commission is not solely my achievement. I believe it is a shared success of all teachers, students, officers, and staff members of the SUBIPRABI family.”

He further added, “I will strive to fulfill this responsibility with utmost dedication by utilizing my long-acquired knowledge, experience, and expertise.”

Professor Nizam expressed his firm belief that this honorable appointment will enable him to play an active role, through the UGC, in enhancing the quality of education in all public and private universities across Bangladesh and in facilitating their attainment of international accreditation.

According to the provisions under sections (4)(1)(d) and (4)(5) of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh Order, 1973 (President’s Order No. 10 of 1973), Dr. Md. Nizam Uddin has been nominated for a two-year term effective from October 5.

In the same letter, the UGC authorities congratulated Professor Dr. Md. Nizam Uddin and expressed their expectation for his valuable advice and active cooperation in the commission’s activities.
