Gazipur Digital University Hosts Drawing Competition Honoring July Martyrs

As part of a month-long program commemorating the martyrs of the July Uprising, Gazipur Digital University (GDU) organized a drawing competition on Saturday, July 19. The event took place at the university’s academic building in Kaliakair, Gazipur.

Around 50 students from grades one through five of Latifpur Model Government Primary School and Afaz Uddin Memorial School and College participated in the competition. With brush and color, the young participants paid tribute to the martyrs of last year's July Uprising, expressing their love for the country. Their artwork reflected scenes of the protest, including helicopters used to suppress the movement, and the tragic deaths of Ahad and Ria Gop.

Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Treasurer of GDU, attended the event as the chair and encouraged the participants. Departmental heads and faculty members of the university were also present.

The university stated that the aim of such events is to raise awareness among the younger generation about the July Uprising and the country’s history. As part of the month-long initiative, the university has also planned a series of programs including discussion sessions, student rallies, essay competitions, prayer gatherings, the inauguration of a "July Memory Bookshelf," tree planting in memory of the martyrs, rallies on the Uprising Day, photography and sketch exhibitions, poster presentations, cultural programs, and video productions.
