BPO Bonanza Begins: Two-Day Summit Showcases Tech Triumphs
The sixth edition of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Summit kicked off in Dhaka’s Sena Prangon, transforming the venue into a buzzing hub of innovation, ambition, and futuristic technology. At the very entrance, visitors are greeted by an Augmented Reality (AR) presentation that narrates Bangladesh’s historical journey, setting the tone for the nation's technological aspirations.
To the left of the ground-floor Innovation and Services Exhibition Hall stands a striking Virtual Reality (VR) installation portraying the July Uprising—offering attendees an immersive glimpse into recent national events.
More than 25 local and international BPO companies are participating in the summit. Nearly every booth is decorated with colorful candies to welcome visitors, adding a festive charm to the professional event.
One of the main attractions is the Starlink Experience Zone, where visitors can test high-speed satellite-based internet connectivity. But the attention-grabber remains the military drone displayed by the Narsingdi Science and Robotics Club. As the country’s first privately developed defense-grade drone, it is a proud symbol of the dreams and capabilities of Bangladesh’s youth. Surrounded by eager onlookers, it evokes comparisons with how drones have transformed defense strategies in Iran and Pakistan—fueling hopes that Bangladesh will soon command similar technological parity.
Another crowd-pleaser is the robotic dog showcased at the Techno Pavilion near the entrance, while BPO Council (BACCO) member organizations lined up rows of booths to exhibit a wide range of tech services and products.
Meanwhile, Dubotech Digital, a rising Bangladeshi startup, impressed with its contributions to the blue economy. Its Autonomous Underwater Rover is currently collecting underwater data for three domestic and one Dubai-based shipping company. Although the actual rover was not present, videos were played demonstrating its capability to monitor fish larvae growth. Their Internet of Things (IoT)-powered robot is also designed to inspect underwater infrastructure and conduct complex tasks using Artificial Intelligence (AI), reflecting the startup’s deep-sea innovation.
Akij Telecom showcased an AI-enabled smart glass that allows users to make phone calls and listen to music while driving, representing a seamless blend of safety and convenience.
At the Mayfair Wellness Clinic BD stall, a device could analyze 44 gastrointestinal functions within five minutes simply by scanning the palm. The clinic’s usual test costing BDT 15,000 is being offered at BDT 5,000 during the summit.
The 24/7 Virtual Assistants booth drew a cheerful crowd engaging in dart games, with souvenirs like pens and toys handed out as prizes—adding a fun dimension to the otherwise tech-driven exhibition.
In addition to these captivating displays, the summit features nine seminars over two days, focusing on industry trends, future workforce preparation, and Bangladesh’s evolving position in the global BPO arena.
