CUET Commemorates Language Martyrs and International Mother Language Day

Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) observed Shaheed Dibosh and International Mother Language Day-2025 on Friday, February 21. The discussion session, held at the foot of the Central Shaheed Minar on the CUET campus, was inaugurated by the Acting Vice Chancellor of CUET, Professor Dr. Sudip Kumar Pal, who was the chief guest.

The event was chaired by CUET's Director of Student Welfare, Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahbubul Alam. Students from different departments also spoke at the ceremony, including Sadman Rahman Ananto from the CSE Department, Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury from the Mechanical Engineering Department, and Ria Islam from the URP Department.

The event was moderated by Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, Deputy Director of Public Relations, and Priyanti Pal Tumpa, Assistant Professor in the ETE Department. A special prayer and Dua were offered for the peace of the martyrs' souls by Hafiz Qari Maulana Nurullah, the Senior Pesh Imam of CUET Central Jamia Mosque.

Earlier in the day, the national flag was hoisted at half-mast at sunrise, marking the beginning of a daylong program. The morning program included a procession, or "Prabhat Feri," from the North Circle to the Central Shaheed Minar, where the immortal song of the language movement, "আমার ভাইয়ের রক্তে রাঙানো একুশে ফেব্রুয়ারি, আমি কি ভুলিতে পারি," was sung. The CUET family then laid a wreath at the Shaheed Minar.

Additionally, a poster graffiti exhibition was held at the Shaheed Minar premises with student participation. The program also included an essay competition, drawing contest for children, handwriting competition, poem recitation, extemporaneous speech, patriotic songs, and a prize distribution ceremony. After Asr prayers, a special prayer and Dua were offered at the Central Mosque for the peace of the martyrs' souls.
