Bangladesh is now a state of youth: Mostafa Jabbar
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar said Bangladesh is now a state of youth. While the developed countries of the world are suffering from lack of working population, the door of opportunity has opened for Bangladesh for the younger generation. Population dividend is a great opportunity for Bangladesh. "Given the opportunity and the environment, our young generation is capable of making the impossible possible," he said. We are building a highway to digital technology through the expansion of broadband internet connectivity across the country.
He called upon the private sector, especially the concerned trade organizations and social organizations, to come forward along with government initiatives to develop the young generation as entrepreneurs by utilizing the opportunity to use this highway of technology.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the Entrepreneurs' Conference organized by the ‘Nijer Bolar Moto Ekta Golpo Foundation’ at the Mirpur Indoor Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said that people's lives are now dependent on digital technology in almost every field including industry, commerce and education. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has been able to meet the challenges of the digital industrial revolution by creating digital connectivity and appropriate digital infrastructure. We have adopted a master plan to ensure high speed internet connection in every educational institution. "Apart from every educational institution, we are also working to provide high-speed internet in every village in the country," he said. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to acquire digital skills in building a digital nation and said that without digital skills one cannot live in the future world. He described the boys and girls of new generation as golden people. Our boys are operating Bangabandhu Satellite-1 efficiently with only three months of training. Mr. Mostafa Jabbar, a heroic freedom fighter, said to the youth, "You should jump into the struggle to build Bangabandhu's golden Bengal for your next generation, the country that we have built for you by fighting."
Iqbal Bahar Zahid, the founder of the ‘Nijer Bolar Moto Ekta Golpo Foundation’, briefed the Minister on the activities of the organization to create entrepreneurs. President of ISPAB Emdadul Haque also addressed the function.
At the event, some entrepreneurs told the story of their struggle and success. An entrepreneur recounts his story of becoming an entrepreneur, saying that she has become a successful entrepreneur by taking proper training studying only upto grade two. A few women entrepreneurs expressed similar kind of feelings stories of their own.
Reacting to the story of their rise, the Minister said, "The story I have heard is a story which will show the path for Bangladesh."
Later, the Minister addressed as the chief guest at the concluding function of the International Conference on Computing Advancement organized by the Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of American International University, Bangladesh in Dhaka.
