Mobile Apps and Game Testing Lab opened at BAUET, Natore
Mobile Apps and Game Testing Lab has been launched at Bangladesh Army University of Engineering and Technology (BAUET) located at Dayarampur, Kadirabad, Natore District. The lab is set up under the 'Skill Development for Mobile Games and Applications' project of the ICT Department. The lab is equipped with modern equipment. 15 students in each batch will get the opportunity to create new mobile apps and games using this lab.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak opened this lab at a cost of Tk. 37 lakh on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Member of Parliament of Natore-1 Shahidul Islam Bakul, BAUET Vice-Chancellor Brigadier General Professor Md. Mostafa Kamal, Station Commander of Kadirabad Cantonment Brigadier General Md. Moniruzzaman, and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Tarek Zubair accompanied the State Minister. Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty, officials and students of all faculties of the University were also present.
After opening the lab, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, 13 years ago, the journey of a backward underdeveloped country (Bangladesh) began with the honesty, courage and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At that time, the ambitious vision of building a technology-based digital Bangladesh was given. Due to the relentless efforts of the Prime Minister, the country is now a pioneer in technology across the world. Information and Communication Technology subject has been introduced from sixth to twelfth class to turn the golden people of this country into skilled human resources. Sheikh Russell Digital Lab has been created in 13 thousand schools, colleges and madrasas across the country. This is how we are working to build a technology-dependent talented developed country in 2041. Our aim is to meet the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution by turning the inexhaustible energy of youth into technology-based skilled human resources. To achieve this goal, the country's technology sector is working on artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber security and micro-processors. Bangladesh will become a top technology country through the implementation of our plan.
Addressing the students in the central lecture hall of the university, he said, BAUET joined the innovative culture from now on. Here, students can use their innovative power in three labs including mobile apps, game testing lab. Artificial Intelligence Lab, Robotics Lab and Cyber Security Lab will be established here later. Students will become creative by using these labs. They won't do jobs, they will provide jobs to others. He also said that two students including Mominul from here have conquered the world as members of Team Mohakash.
State Minister Zunaid Ahmed said without mentioning the name, “A student of this university is one of the best 40 cyber security specialists in the country. He is also one of the 500 people in the world. He expressed hope that the students here will become more efficient in human welfare. He also announced an incentive of Tk. 30 lakh for 3 more projects of the university.
The winners of the NASA Space Apps Challenge-2021 were felicitated with crests at the event.
While visiting the lab's state-of-the-art equipment, A BAUET student and NASA Space Apps Challenge-2021 winning team member Mominul Haque shared ideas about the lab's various projects and showed the games they invented.
It may be noted that, 40 mobile apps and game testing labs are being established at the university level of the country. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has allocated Tk. 330 crore for the implementation of this project. Training of 7 thousand 425 people, 289 mobile apps and game development and 33 district level mobile apps testing centers are being set up under the project. Besides, 8 departmental level mobile apps and game testing centers, 9 mobile apps and game development marketing and promotion, 4 consultant service purchase and price contingency expenses are being met.
