DRU Election 2024: Saleh President, Sohel General Secretary, and ICT Secretary Sharif
The Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) has announced the results of its Executive Committee Election for 2024. Abu Saleh Aakon of Daily Naya Diganta secured the presidency with 801 votes, defeating Mursalin Nomani by a significant margin. Mainul Hasan Sohel from Daily Inqilab was elected as General Secretary with 548 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Shahnaz Sharmin, who received 364 votes.
In other key positions, Gazhi Anwar was elected as Vice President, Nadia Sharmin as Joint Secretary, and Shariful Islam retained his position as Information Technology and Training Secretary.
The election saw a turnout of 1,425 voters out of 1,744 registered members. Voting took place on November 30, from 9 AM to 5 PM, in a celebratory atmosphere.
Four candidates, including the Welfare Secretary and Cultural Secretary, were elected unopposed. The remaining 17 positions witnessed competition among 31 candidates.
