Allen Swopon Returns: Eid Sequel Promises More Mystery and Mayhem
The much-discussed web series “Myself Allen Swopon” is set to return with a new season this Eid-ul-Fitr. The OTT platform Chorki announced the upcoming season on Friday (March 14), revealing the news through a teaser posted on Facebook with the caption: “Badda is Back! Eid Salami – 400 Crore Taka!” The new season will once again feature Nasir Uddin Khan in the lead role, alongside Rafiath Rashid Mithila.
The previous season of “Myself Allen Swopon” ended with the intriguing dialogue, "Myself Shamsur Rahman Swopon, also known as Allen Swopon," leaving the audience with several unanswered questions. The final scene showed Swopon speaking with a masked man, but the mystery remained—who was this man, and why was he looking for Swopon? According to Chorki’s official verified Facebook page, these questions will be addressed in the second season.
The teaser video features a voice speaking in Chattogram dialect, demanding, “Where is my 400 crore taka?” Shortly after, Allen Swopon responds, “Because of you all, I had to step out. Myself Shamsur Rahman Swopon, also known as Allen Swopon.” The mystery surrounding 400 crore taka remains unresolved, leaving fans wondering about its owner and whereabouts.
The first season of “Myself Allen Swopon” followed Swopon’s transformation from a drug dealer in Chattogram to a mastermind of money laundering. The upcoming season is expected to further expand his operations and possibly change his methods.
Commenting on his character, Nasir Uddin Khan stated, “People are already familiar with the character of Allen Swopon. They know it is a negative role. In the new season, the character is going to become even more terrifying. And, of course, his mischievous nature will remain. Overall, the character will return in a larger and more intense way.”
A Spinoff Success
Allen Swopon was first introduced in Chorki’s original series “Syndicate”, appearing in the final segment of the show. Due to its popularity, a spinoff series titled “Myself Allen Swopon” was created, both directed by Shihab Shaheen. He is also leading the second season.
Discussing the challenges of making “Myself Allen Swopon 2”, Shihab Shaheen shared, “The experience of directing ‘Myself Allen Swopon 2’ has been truly challenging. But these challenges have taught me to think in new ways. After the success of the first season, audience expectations for the second season are high. I hope they won’t be disappointed. The story and characters have developed naturally, and everything has been scaled up. While writing the script, maintaining the complexity of character relationships and dramatic tension was tough yet enjoyable.”
The first season of “Myself Allen Swopon” was widely popular upon its release in 2023, amassing 20 million streaming minutes in just eight days. It even set a record of 10 million minutes streamed within the first 100 hours.
Speaking about the sequel, Chorki CEO Redoan Rony said, “These streaming data are crucial for the OTT industry, but even more important is the excitement and enthusiasm that Allen Swopon has generated among the audience. This love and support inspired us to create a second season. We have worked to ensure that viewers get something new and that their expectations are met. The story and character portrayals will bring surprises. I strongly believe that in the new season, audiences will experience their favorite series and character in an even more thrilling way.”
The second season will feature returning cast members, including Rafiath Rashid Mithila, Aimon Shimla, Farhad Limon, and Arnob Tripura, along with several new actors.
Notably, “Syndicate”, the original Chorki series that introduced the Allen Swopon character, was released during Eid-ul-Adha in 2022. The use of Chattogram dialect and powerful performances by the cast contributed to the immense popularity of the character.
