A Dhaka court has ordered the imprisonment of TikToker Abdullah Al Mamun, popularly known as Prince Mamun, after he was arrested in a case alleging a dowry demand of BDT 10 million (one crore), physical assault and attempted murder.

On Friday, Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Monirul Islam rejected the accused's bail petition following a hearing and ordered that he be sent to jail.

According to court sources, Atikia Faizah Mohona, Prince Mamun's wife, filed the case with Bhatara Police Station at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Police later arrested him and produced him before the court.

The investigation officer, SI Md. Yaur Rahman of Bhatara Police Station, requested the court to keep the accused in custody until the investigation is completed.

The defense sought bail, while the prosecution opposed the request. After hearing both sides, the court rejected the bail application.

In the complaint, Mohona alleged that she married Prince Mamun about five months ago and that family disputes had continued since their marriage.

She further alleged that Prince Mamun repeatedly pressured her to bring BDT 10 million from her father's family to finance a business. According to the complaint, she was subjected to regular physical and mental abuse after refusing to meet the demand.

The complaint also states that around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday night, Prince Mamun allegedly came to her residence in Bashundhara Residential Area under the influence of intoxicants, again demanded the dowry money, assaulted her and attempted to strangle her.

The complaint further claims that she sustained injuries below her left eye, swelling in her right ear and multiple injuries on different parts of her body.

The allegations described above are those made by the complainant in the case. The matter remains under investigation, and the allegations have not been proven in court.
