Railway Reforms: Online GD Service Rolled Out in all 24 Police Stations

Bangladesh Railway Police is launching online General Diary (GD) services across all 24 police stations in six railway districts starting Thursday, September 25. To facilitate this, a centralized database of railway station GDs has already been prepared, bringing all police stations under the scope of online GD services.

To access the service, users can download the “Online GD” app from the Google Play Store and complete registration. Multiple registrations will not be required. In case of any difficulty during registration or while filing an online GD, users have been requested to contact the hotline number 01320001428, which will remain active 24/7.

With the service in place, passengers who may forget or lose belongings while traveling—for instance, boarding at one station and disembarking at another—will now be able to file their GDs from home. This will allow the Railway Police to respond more quickly while sparing service recipients the hassle of visiting police stations.

Shahadat Hossain stated, “In line with the directive of the Chief Adviser, Bangladesh Police has introduced the convenience of filing all types of GDs online without needing to visit a police station. Bangladesh Police is committed to delivering services to the doorsteps of the people in the quickest and easiest manner possible.”

The Railway Police, one of the oldest specialized units of Bangladesh Police, was established in 1881. Within its jurisdiction, it performs duties equivalent to district police, including maintaining law and order, crime prevention, investigation, and other policing activities. Currently, railway police districts have been established in Dhaka, Chattogram, Syedpur, Pabna, Sylhet, and Khulna.
