CUET Commemorates July Uprising with ‘Dastan-e-Inquilab’ and Tributes

The Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) observed July Uprising Day with a series of events, including the unveiling of a commemorative publication titled Dastan-e-Inquilab, which documents the 2024 movement.

Held on Tuesday, August 5, the event featured an engaging discussion session where CUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan attended as the chief guest. The program was jointly organized by CUET’s cultural group Bahnishikha and the Language and Literature Society.

Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubul Alam and Provost of Shaheed Abu Sayeed Hall Professor Dr. Md. Mamunur Rashid were present as special guests. Among the student speakers were Obaidullah Mohammad Afzal, Aminul Islam, Mahfuzar Rahman Mohabbat, Language and Literature Society President Umme Mabrura Umama, General Secretary Iftekhar Mahmud Tanmoy, Adil Raihan, and CUET Journalists’ Association President Ashhab Labib.

The program began with the screening of a documentary on the July Uprising, produced by the CUET Journalists’ Association.

In remembrance of the July martyrs, special prayer sessions were held after Asr prayers at both the CUET Central Jame Masjid and the Staff Quarters Mosque. The Vice Chancellor and a large number of faculty, students, officers, and staff participated in the dua and munajat.

CUET’s commemoration of July Uprising Day emphasized reflection, remembrance, and the importance of student activism in shaping democratic ideals.
