BYD Backs ‘God’s Eye’ Parking System with Full Liability Assurance

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has announced that it will take full responsibility and offer compensation for any accidents caused while using its automated parking system. According to Fast Company, the system—branded as “God’s Eye”—has achieved Level 4 autonomy. The Verge also reported on the development.
BYD becomes the second company after Mercedes-Benz to roll out a Level 4 parking system. However, while Mercedes' technology is currently limited to a parking garage at Stuttgart Airport, BYD’s implementation appears more widely accessible. In contrast, Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving systems remain at Level 2, requiring drivers to remain alert and in control at all times.
BYD stated that if an accident occurs while using the self-parking feature, customers will not need to rely on insurance and can contact the company directly for assistance. The company emphasized that this commitment reflects its “confidence in the technology and its responsibility for customer safety.”
Beyond the “God’s Eye” system, a Level 2 version of the technology is also available. The top-tier “God’s Eye A” model features three LiDAR sensors and is reserved for premium vehicles.
