A delegation of national and local leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by the party’s Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, visited the private drone laboratory of local innovator Mohammad Ashir Uddin on June 16.

The visit took place around 10:30 am local time at the lab located adjacent to Izzatia School in Ward No. 2 of Paschim Pukuria under the upazila. Mohammad Ashir Uddin, a young drone builder from South Pukuria’s Samad Ali Sikder Para in Pukuria Union, presented five types of drones he had constructed, including models named Dreamliner 787, MQ Drone, MiG-29, Airboat, and Helicopter.

During the meeting, Ashir stated, “I have successfully flown seven drones to date. Each drone initially had a range of 30 kilometers.” He further shared that his passion for aviation began during his school days and was nurtured by saving pocket money to buy electronics and aeronautical parts.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Rizvi, representing the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, handed over financial support to Ashir as technical assistance and pledged ongoing support to further enhance his skills.

Alongside the BNP leaders, the delegation also included senior journalist Atikur Rahman Ruman, convener of ‘Amra BNP Poribar’, Barrister Mir Helal, Assistant Organizing Secretary (Chattogram Division) of BNP’s National Executive Committee, Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bakul, Abul Kashem, Engineer Mostafa-i-Jaman Selim, Agriculturist Mokshedul Momin Mithun (member secretary of the organization), Zahidul Islam Rony (permanent member of the National Press Club), and Alhaj Ali Abbas, Senior Joint Convener of Chattogram South District BNP, among others.

A large number of local BNP activists and curious residents gathered at the venue during the visit.

Notably, Ashir completed his SSC in 2015 from Bashkhali Pukuria Izzatia High School and HSC in 2018 from Master Nazir Ahmad College. He later enrolled at Shamsunnahar Polytechnic in Chattogram. His dream of building aircraft took shape in 2017 when he successfully assembled his first model plane, which gradually led to the creation of multiple functional drones.
