The month-long Conference Carnival 2025 at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) commenced with a seminar and hands-on training workshop hosted by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). The inaugural session was officially launched by JUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

The university is pioneering this month-long academic initiative in Bangladesh, bringing together all 27 departments and one faculty under a unified conference platform from May 24 to June 30. The objective is to foster research and develop skilled human resources.

The opening seminar, titled “TechFrontiers: Technology for the Future”, was held at the university’s central gallery and attended by students, faculty, and invited guests.

Speaking as the chief guest, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid said, “This month-long Conference Carnival is aimed at transforming students into competent and responsible citizens. JUST is the first university in the country to host such a national-level event. From now on, we will hold this carnival every two years and organize an international conference annually.” Addressing the EEE students, he added, “You must focus on power energy. Only then can you contribute to solving the country’s energy sector challenges.”

The keynote speaker of the seminar was Chandra Shekhar, Chief Engineer of South Asia Service Experience and System Integration at Huawei Technologies Bangladesh Ltd. He provided insights into emerging technologies, network systems, artificial intelligence, and career development through a detailed slide presentation.

Following the first seminar session, a poster presentation was held at 12:00 PM featuring participation from EEE department students. In the afternoon, a practical training workshop on Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design was conducted. The session was led by Md. Nadim Mostafa, Deputy Director, and Mohammad Zubaid Hossain, Assistant Deputy Director of Walton Digitech Industries Ltd., who delivered hands-on guidance to participants.

The seminar also featured special remarks by JUST Treasurer Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun. Other speakers included Dr. Engr. Imran Khan, Chair of the EEE Department and Seminar Convener, and Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Faculty members, department chairs, and students were present, and the seminar was conducted by EEE students Md. Ratul Hasan and Jannatul Naeem.

On the same day, JUST’s Jhenaidah campus hosted another major event organized by the Faculty of Veterinary and Medicine. The “7th Animal Welfare Workshop in Bangladesh 2025”, themed “All Animals Deserve a Good Life,” was held in collaboration with the International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE).
