Seminar Stresses Sustainable and Just Energy Future in Bangladesh
A seminar titled “Energy Justice in Bangladesh” was recently held at the Academic Council Room of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), organized by CUET's Directorate of Research and Extension in collaboration with the Forum for Energy and Social Justice.
Speakers at the event emphasized the need to ensure energy justice across all sectors, calling for equity and fairness in energy distribution. They noted that building awareness about energy rights is crucial and that everyone must act responsibly from their respective positions. “We must raise our voices against irregularities; otherwise, energy security will be compromised, and future generations will suffer,” speakers warned.
The seminar, held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, was graced by Professor Dr. Sudip Kumar Pal, Acting Vice-Chancellor of CUET and Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, as the Chief Guest.
Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, former Vice-Chancellor of CUET, USTC, and RUET, attended the event as Guest of Honour.
The keynote papers were presented by Dr. M. Shamsul Alam, noted energy expert, Energy Adviser of the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Daffodil International University, along with Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua.
The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Sajal Chandra Banik, Director of the Directorate of Research and Extension at CUET. The session was moderated by Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, Deputy Director (Public Relations) of CUET.
